PREFACE

This book is funny, enlightening, uplifting and offensive all at the same time. The title may be Why Black Men Love White Women, but whether you are a Black man, a white man, a white woman or a Black woman, you will simply have your head handed to you in this relentless, no-holds-barred, dissection of race, sex, power and class in America.

One of the most fascinating books you are likely to read this year or any year. The book is tight, very tight. Rajen Persaud (who is a filmmaker, a comedian and an actor) gets right to the point and stays on point from beginning to end. The best preface to this book is to skip this preface and jump right in at any point. You’ll likely read it right through, and then turn around and come back to the beginning.

Persaud’s purview stretches from the days of bondage to the current era of Hollywood’s all-pervasive, electronic enthrallment. You can imagine what happened during slavery, but after this book you will know point-blank, every last painful detail. The catharsis will leave you reeling with rage or shaking with shame. But hopefully, it will also put you in touch with the repressed events of your ancestral memory that have guided you, unconsciously, in the battle of the sexes and the war of the races.

Herein you will see how opposites attract and repel, and love and hate, each other and the world that they create. At times you will cheer him, at times you’ll curse him and sometimes you’ll be doing both. But throughout this fascinating read, your furrowed brow will smooth and you’ll laugh till you cry as you see yourself, your friends, your gender and your race, in all its foibles, pretensions and ultimate possibilities. Enough said by me. It's time for you to read and enjoy and learn and see...
